I almost cried. It’s so beautiful. I spent at least ten minutes looking at it and I could have spent another hour. Just in case you can’t tell, this painting is over 5 feet tall. The detail was beautiful to finally see in person. I have loved this painting since I was 13. To see all the brush strokes (and to “see” the hidden brush strokes!), the true colors, even the tiny little cracks in the aging paint was truly a remarkable experience. I have fulfilled a top five wish list item by having seen “Judith Slaying Holofernes” in person. I will forever love Artemisia Gentileschi. I will never forget this day.
